Subscriptions
Subscriptions are created when a customer signs up for a plan. The subscription tells the system the frequency and amount to charge each customer.
Plan Change (Upgrade/Downgrade)
The system allows customers to change their subscription plan with automatic proration calculation.
Item Changes
Besides plan changes (upgrade/downgrade), Automatic Billing supports changes to the individual items of a subscription — changing quantities, adding add-ons, swapping a one-off product or a metered item without having to change the main plan. The /dashboard/subscription-changes screen groups the history of these changes and the default proration settings.
Pause Subscription
The pause subscription feature allows you to temporarily suspend billing for a customer without canceling the subscription. It is a strategic retention tool.

Billing terms define how and when the customer is charged for the subscription.
